Meet Your Student Advisory Committee Members
Gina Makary, University of North Florida
What are your hobbies?
I love bullet journaling and singing.
What is your favorite food?
Anything with Salmon.
Why did you chose to study dietetics?
I chose to study dietetics because I want to help people build a healthier relationship with food and combat the widespread misinformation that often causes confusion or harm. Nutrition is closely tied to physical and emotional well-being, and I’m passionate about providing education that empowers rather than restricts. Community nutrition has shown me how rewarding it is to make an impact on a larger scale through teaching, outreach, and helping others find balance in how they nourish themselves in ways that are realistic and sustainable.
What has been your favorite class so far?
So many, but this semester definitely Nutrition through the Lifecycle. I didn’t expect to enjoy studying this area so much!
What career area of dietetics interests you the most?
I would love the opportunity to work in eating disorder treatment or community nutrition.
My commitment to the Student Advisory Committee
I’m excited to represent the University of North Florida on the Student Advisory Committee by uplifting student voices and promoting professional growth across our state. I especially look forward to connecting with dietetic students from other Florida universities and gaining experience creating student-focused content like highlights, website, and socials. Through this role, I hope to support, encourage, and elevate fellow students as we navigate our unique journeys toward becoming RDNs.
