Job Description:  Registered Dietitian - PRN

Remote position working with parents of children aged 4-17.

Brain Balance is a holistic organization providing a non-medical program supporting children who struggle with academic, social and behavior issues. Balance 360 is the proprietary nutrition program designed to support their progress with program. There are more than 100 Brain Balance centers across 30 states in all time zones. 

Our organization is in need of a Registered Dietitian (RD) to support our clients with the  implementation of Balance 360. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of conducting nutrition assessments, providing succinct and effective nutrition education and collaborating with parents to set SMART goals.  The RD should also actively keep up with the latest nutritional research, integrating new findings into diet plans and nutritional services. The ideal applicant has experience providing nutrition education to parents. The RD must be ready to  collaborate with fellow Registered Dietitians to provide consistent recommendations to families across the company. The RD must be able to adapt and tailor dietary services and improve client outcomes, while maintaining the Balance 360 recommendations as a whole. The Registered Dietitian should be a great communicator, critical thinker and leader. 

The RD will provide video and phone counseling appointments for families across the country. This is a PRN position with the opportunity to have flexible hours. Hours available will vary based on appointment demand. Highest demand is for appointments during evenings and weekends. 

Nutrition counseling appointments are 25 minutes long, take place on the phone or via a webinar and are on a topic that the parents chose. For web appointments, powerpoint presentations are made for the dietitians to use. 

In addition to providing the appointment, the RD will accurately document pertinent information and provide a summary email to parents. 

In addition to video counseling calls, the RD may be responsible for attending team meetings phone calls, contributing new materials and recipes to our parent information portal and monitoring our private facebook group. The RD may also attend Brain Balance regional and annual conferences, as applicable. 

Priority will be given to RDs who speak Spanish. 

Provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) services in accordance with company guidelines, state and federal laws and regulations

Develop nutrition plans and implement interventions based on knowledge of patient’s current health

Implement personalized, age-specific and culturally appropriate nutrition strategies

Provide nutrition education and counseling for patients


  • At least two years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from an accredited university
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to connect with clients in video counseling format
  • Experience with data entry and data analysis
  • Experience with recipe development, blogging, food photography and menu planning preferred
  • Experience with special diets, such as gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free preferred as well as experience counseling picky eaters. 
  • Strong problem solving, project management and organization skills

Must be a Registered Dietitian with Registration by the CDR (Commission on Dietetic Registration). Must be licensed in the state where he or she lives, if applicable. 

RD may be responsible for obtaining licenses in additional states. If applicable, Brain Balance will reimburse all costs associated with this.   

RD to achieve sufficient continuing education credits to maintain licensure


The RD must have a quiet space to conduct nutrition counseling sessions with a professional background and  high-speed internet.
