OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
Directs and oversees all operation and budget requirements for non-food supplies and services as needed by the office. Plans, manages and coordinates food service capital and equipment purchases to insure that the district needs are identified, resourced, implemented and supported within established dollar and scheduled budgets. Major functions include establishing specifications and standards, needs assessment and operational requirements for school food equipment, supplies, service contracts and support. Responsible for analysis of capital and equipment maintenance and replacement to ensure high level of student meal participation and for efficient budget management. This includes attendance at district meetings, analysis and planning for needed services and supplies for efficient district and school site food service operations.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
1. Responsible for reviewing all purchase orders prior to submissions that are required by the Department for food service equipment, services and supplies.
2. Responsible for verifying and assigning all food service equipment maintenance repairs and replacements.
3. Responsible for supervising Equipment Repair Center and Food Service Transportati on personnel.
4. Directs the development of all food service equipment, supply products and service contract specifications in collaboration with program and district directors.
5. Serves as the department liaison to other school system functions and matters relating to food service capital operations, procurement, expenditures and contracted services at all school sites.
6. Develops the budget, staffing considerations and equipment requirements for the Department Systems Support Center and equipment service center and transportation and delivery vehicles.
7. Conducts site visits to determine Recommends recommendations for appropriate equipment and capital food service projects for all district schools.
8. Conducts meetings with District personnel to develop food service equipment and facilities operations and budgets at multiple locations.
9. Coordinates responses to audit findings through the department.
10. Performs other duties related to the general administrative responsibilities of the position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors and outdoors and requires frequent in-county travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, Public Health Management, Hospitality, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
2. Minimum of five {5) years of progressive responsibility in school food service management and administrative experience.
3. Minimum of two {2) years experience in writing specifications for food service equipment and services, equipment layout and design, facilities and construction or design.
4. Valid Florida driver’s license.
5. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
