The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is one of seven departments within the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work. The mission of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is to prepare practitioners and applied researchers in dietetics, food, and nutrition to build a healthier society. The Department offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in dietetics and nutrition. The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®) accredits two programs within the department, the Didactic Program in Dietetics and the Dietetic Internship.
The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition at Florida International University invites applicants for the Didactic Program Director, a non-tenure track position at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor.
The director will be responsible for maintaining the accreditation status of the didactic program in dietetics (DPD), coordinating the educational program in dietetics, working with the other program faculty to provide for a quality academic curriculum, instruction and assessment ensuring a productive and challenging classroom experience, and preparing students for the workplace and/or dietetics internship. This will include teaching undergraduate courses in dietetics and nutrition, advising dietetics students, keeping accurate records of student performance and progress; ensuring and maintaining compliance with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) standards, and participating in department, college, and university committees as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications/Experience
• Education: a Ph.D. or DCN in an appropriate discipline is required. Must be eligible for a full-time appointment as non-tenure-track or clinical faculty at Florida International University.
• Registration and Licensure: Registered Dietitian credentials and licensure eligible as a dietitian in the State of Florida are required.
• Experience: At least three years of post-credentialing experience as a registered dietitian is required. Experience in dietetics education including teaching dietetics courses, creating, and revising curriculum, advising students, and/or mentoring student research is required. Experience in university academics and with implementing and maintaining accreditation standards/reports is preferred. Familiarity and experience with online technologies is also preferred.
• Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. Effective interpersonal and organizational skills with diverse college/university constituents are required. Expertise in curriculum and program development, analysis, and evaluation are required. The ability to update KRDN data, work with faculty to monitor students’ scores, and aggregate annual data is required. Ability to maintain and follow up with alumni for post-graduation data as required for ACEND accreditation; to work closely with the Office of Academic Planning & Accountability in developing and maintaining student learning outcomes and program outcomes for FIU is required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with University administrators, faculty, staff, and students is a requirement. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those diverse cultures and backgrounds is required.
