Diversity. Equity. Inclusion.
Welcome to the Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (FAND) Diversity and Inclusion page developed for our members to find helpful resources on Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI). The FAND DEI committee is led by Sheetal Parikh and Karen Two Shoes. Two strong RD women the Nutrition Leadership with a very diverse background of their own. Sheetal is originally from India, one of the most diverse countries in the world. After moving to the United States she worked hard to receive one more degree in nutrition to become a registered dietitian. She brings her unique experience and skills in the nutrition world by blending eastern and western cultures with innovative and plant-based diets. She lived her whole life as a vegetarian and has formed her lifestyle into a passion for teaching and sharing the health benefits of vegetarianism and shares recipes for multiple publications. Karen Two Shoes is a Native American tribal member of the Seminole Tribe in South Florida. She currently works as the Nutrition Coordinator at the Seminole Tribe of Florida Health Dept. and Integrative Health. Karen’s background brings great insight and resources for BIPOC and DEI initiatives and programs. We are very proud to have the support of these two great dietitians as they work with their direct community to find and share all the best there is on Diversity and Inclusion.
