Hello Members of the F lorida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics,
I am thrilled to serve as Secretary of FAND! I take this responsibility with tenacity, graciousness and lots of enthusiasm! Please keep me abreast of news in your area and I'll be sure to share it in Focus, our state newsletter. Also, please contact me with any concerns that I may bring to the Administrative Council. It's my hope to visit many of you at one of your local district meetings. Please see below on official Secretary duties.
The secretary of FAND serves as a member of the Board of Directors and is responsible for the minutes of the Directors' meetings as well as those of the Administrative Council and of the Association membership meetings.
The Secretary also serves as statewide Chair for Media and the Focus Publication, and is a liaison for the Public Relations Chairman. Goals of the FAND strategic plan clearly state several opportunities for media, Focus, and public relations especially those related to building membership, cultivating future leaders, advocating for key initiatives, and increasing demand for services.
Our state has seven key marketing areas: West Florida, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa/Pinellas, Palm Beach/Broward, and Miami. FAND's network of active media representatives needs to keep growing so look for those opportunities to represent your profession in the media! And share your successes and tips by passing them on to me and posting them in your local association's National Nutrition Month brag book. Who knows- it may be your work that brings the accolades of your statewide colleagues' home to your local association!
FAND's mission is to empower our members to promote optimal nutrition and health for all people. The vision states that its members are the most valued source of nutrition information and services. Media, Public Relations and our newsletter, Focus, are all important keys for the success of our organization. Together we can make a difference for our profession!
